Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve

Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve in 2020
Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve aka Wedge Road Reserve is a new redevelopment that now has pavilion situated between two ovals, one synthetic, with limited parking bays. Much talk was that former WNPL club Southern United was to move there but the club decided a far better offer was available to them at Casey Fields. In 2021 Frankston Pines will play home games at this venue while Monterey Boulevard gets a new pavilion constructed.

Civic Reserve - 2020

Civic Reserve in Mornington

Civic Reserve is Mornington is a new set up that will be home to Mount Martha Soccer Club that is almost across the road from the long-established Dallas Brooks Reserve. When these images where done the pavilion had yet to be constructed and in the soccer section of the area two pitches head to head with car parking had been completed. Mount Martha was due to compete in the 2020 State League 5 South division prior to COVID cancelling the season.

Dallas Brooks Park - 2020

Dallas Brook Park
Dallas Brook Park, Mornington in 2020
Dallas Brooks Park in Mornington is home to State League 1 South East club Mornington Soccer Club. With three full-size pitches, it has allowed the home club to be able to expand over the years. One of the updates to the pavilion since my last lot of images is that the pavilion now has a limited undercover area.

2003 PLC Rd 2 - Carrum United v North Caulfield

2003 VSF Provisional League Cup: Round 2 (March 10th) Carrum United (Provisional 2 SE ) vs North Caulfield (Provisional 1 SE) Venue: Italo Australia Club (525-531 Frankston-Dandenong Rd, Dandenong South, VIC, 3175)

Sorry about how poor my camera skills were back then. Found this footage at the back end of one of my mini tapes. What I decided to do is keep what I found and uploaded it in its entirety. So its the first goal and then the last 15 mins or so of footage of the game

The venue was called the Italo Australia Club that was a privately owned venue shared by Carrum United Soccer Club, the restaurant and the lawn bowls club. This place was sold off and Carrum United was forced to find a new home. They then became the current day Skye United and host games at Skye Reserve.

Baxter Park (Baxter) - 2020

Baxter Park's main pitch facing north.
Here are much better drone images that what was presented a few years back of Baxter Park, the home of Baxter Soccer Club. In these images, three pitches are set up for soccer but in the past, the oval to the south of the main pitch has also hosted matches. The main pitch has a very well built pavilion that has a social room and also provides a good view of the matches.

Lawton Reserve - 2020

Over the years Lawton Reserve in Langwarrin has steadily seen improvements that also coincides with the home club Lawgwarrin Soccer Club move up the leagues. At the time of writing Langwarrin participates in the National Premier League 2. The main pitch pavilion has an undercover seating area that really promotes a good atmosphere on game day with a social room that includes a bar and canteen. Recently the car park was extended that will be very welcomed by the visitors.

Reema Reserve - 2020

Reema Reserve in 2020 facing north.
If I can recall right Reema Reserve was constructed and became the home of Endeavour United back around 2001. The reserve was purposely built for soccer with two pitches and the pavilion on the north end. The main pitch that is used for senior matches is the one to the east. Parking is available onsite as is accessed via Stacy Court.

Power Reserve - 2020

Power Reserve in Doveton facing west.
To find the soccer ground in  Power Reserve, Doveton you will need to drive around the football/cricket oval and head to the back end of the reserve and there you will find the neat little home of Endeavour Hills Fire. The best aspect is that the home club has access to one made for the soccer pitch. The detached pavilion to the west side that has little benefits to spectators except for the canteen but parking is not too much of an issue. You can watch matches from the banking to the east but best if the day is overcast as you could be facing directly into the sun.

Frank Holohan Reserve

Frank Holohan Reserve's main pitch, facing north.
Well, finally I got around to get some drone images of Frank Holohan Reserve, the home of NPL club Dandenong City. For many years this venue has been in existence and since Chelsea Hajduk took over the former Dandenong City with big ambitions the place just seems to get looking better every time with improvements like the undercover stand, clubrooms and parking bays etc. The venue contains three full-size pitches.

Skye Reserve - 2020

Skye Reserve facing east.
Skye Reserve, facing east.
.Skye Reserve has enjoyed a steady amount of improvements since Skye United shifted from their old home at the Italian Australia club in Carrum Downs. In these images, it shows the new changerooms to the right facing the pavilion. The oval was altered years ago so that two full-size pitches can be placed giving its odd shape.

KM Reedy Reserve - 2020

KM Reedy Reserve in 2020 facing south.
KM Reedy Reserve is located in Hampton Park, Victoria and is home to Hampton Park United Sparrows, a club that fields teams in the Football Victoria League. The venue has over the years been improved on, with the back pitches having been redone and the pavilion enjoying extensions for more changerooms. Park is available around the pavilion but is limited so many need to park on the feeding road.

Grices Road Reserve - 2020

Grices Road Reserve in 2020 facing east.
Grices Road Reserve in Berwick, Victoria is the home for Berwick Churches Soccer Club, one of the largest clubs in the Victorian Churches Football Association. The reserve has two pitches in front of the pavilion that is also suited for cricket and another purpose-built football pitch to the north-west. The pavilion is set up on the east side of the main pitch with parking bays around it.

Seaford North Reserve - 2020

Seaford North Reserve facing towards the bay in 2020.
Took my drone out to take some images of the updates to the pavilion to Seaford North Reserve. The new addition to the pavilion that was opened in 2019 includes 2 referred rooms, to additional change rooms, first aid room and a storeroom. The car park also was redone along with other works like the playgrounds.

Lawson Poole Reserve

Lawson Poole Reserve in 2020 facing east.
Lawson Poole Reserve in Cranbourne underwent a major redevelopment that included two new full-size football pitches to go along with the existing oval and then to top it off a new multipurpose pavilion was built. The venue is situated on the corner of Thomson Road and South Gippsland Highway with access to the car park on Lesdon Avenue.

Barton Reserve

Barton Reserve in 2020 facing south.
Barton Reserve in Cranbourne West was opened in late 2019 in one of the newer estates in the surrounding suburbs. This is a purpose-built venue for football along with an oval that can split into two football fields. Surrounding it is a car park with the main pavilion situated to the west of the main pitch with some undercover area for spectators. One sensible arrangement is that the coaches boxes are on the east side which means uninterrupted viewing for the spectator.

Hitting that restart button.

So as life is slowly getting itself back together the next step to work out what to do when the football season kicks off again in 2020. To be truthful the thought of just getting away to do a match somewhere I have not been too or for some time is far more desirable than to continue to course that Football Chaos has been on for the last few years.

This Weekend, FFA Cup Q1

A few days back I announced on the Facebook page that for the first qualification round of the FFA Cup I will head to Gardiners Park in Glen Iris with its new synthetic pitch for the match between Old Melburnians from the FV State League 5 East and Tatura SC who finished 4th last year in the Bendigo Amateur Soccer  League. One of the great reasons I love of the FFA Cup is because of such fixtures with Tatura required to travail almost 200km for the match. A lot of these early round matches we see clubs playing youngsters with clubs still running around getting players to sign up.

Myers Reserve

Myers Reserve can be found in Bell Post Hill, to the east of Geelong. The area is home to a number of sports with the Geelong Rangers pavilion situation to the north and in front of the main pitch. Two more pitches are available to the club not shown in these images that is also used for cricket.

Bannockburn Recreation Precinct

Bannockburn Recreation Precinct is located approx 20 mins north west of the Geelong in the small rural town with the same name Bannockburn. In recent years you can see many new houses are being built in and around the town and so it is expanding. The venue is approx three years old and is home to Golden Plains Soccer Club. Night matches has been known to be played there and currently a second pitch is being built behind the pavilion.

Thoughts of 2020 - Part 1

So as the 2020 season is fast approaching plus the added enjoyment of not doing anything football related in the last month or so it the realisation that after 20 years or so of covering the game, from the days of Soccer Venues, Bayside Soccer League and now Football Chaos it is getting harder just get the motivation to get back into the swing of things. That itself is a warning sign for myself as years ago that was never an issue.
